‘Sir’ Lewis Hamilton may have received his knighthood in his home country, the United Kingdom, officially portraying him as a legend. However, British professional boxer, Tyson Fury, has not been a happy man lately, having come across his home crowd cherishing Hamilton like a hero. Why you might ask?
Well, despite hailing from Wythenshawe, the Briton hasn’t cherished much recognition from his own countrymen and women. Instead, the United States is one of the fewest countries to celebrate Fury’s success in the world heavyweight championship.

Speaking to Daily Mail, Fury opened up that, unlike Hamilton, he has paid his taxes and has kept a clean sheet, yet lacking the required support from his home country.
“Unlike Lewis Hamilton, I live and pay taxes which went up to £9 million last year,” Fury said, taking a sly dig at the 7-time F1 world champion. Fury has been quite famous around the United States, with 2020 being one of his most successful years.

The two-time world champion received ‘Boxer of the year’ awards from two major US sports television networks, the ESPYS and ESPN.
What’s more, Fury also appeared twice on the Ring Magazine as the Fighter of the year. He was also voted Boxer of the year by the Boxing writers’ association of America.
Are the Lewis Hamilton tax claims true?

Of course, the confusion is quite reasonable, considering Hamilton has been living most of his life overseas, despite being a Briton. He even once claimed that he had been paying taxes in many different countries including his home, as the Mercedes driver’s earnings arrive from outside of the UK as well.
What’s more, in 2019, Hamilton was one of the top 5000 highest taxpayers in the country, according to HMRC’s UK Income Tax Liabilities Statistics.

And this ultimately cleared Hamilton off the tax claims, and the Briton went on to receive his knighthood. So, will the stories surrounding Hamilton finally settle down, or has Tyson Fury stirred it up again?
