Unstoppable Max Verstappen Hailed for Rescuing “Boring” 2022 F1 Season

As FIA tried its best to level the playing field by introducing the latest ground-effect regulations, many believed the cars would end up displaying similar performances. However, Red Bull, courtesy of Max Verstappen, put up one of the most dominant displays we have ever seen. McLaren CEO Zak Brown has now lauded the Flying Dutchman for putting excitement into what could have been a boring season.
As Charles Leclerc won two races from the first three fixtures of the season, it looked like Ferrari’s resurgence had finally arrived. However, as Red Bull pulled up their socks and developed the car, the Prancing Horse’s ambitions were swept aside.

At the start of the season, both Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez DNF’d in Bahrain. The nightmare continued as Verstappen DNF’d once again in Australia. However, once the team got the car’s weight down, it was all smooth sailing for them. Some blistering performances throughout the season by their golden boy pumped the excitement into the season while other teams kept struggling with different issues.
Recently, Autosport quoted Zak Brown, saying, “Given the dominance of Max, it doesn’t feel like it’s been a boring season, even if the results on paper, you would think it would be boring. But I think all the races have been very exciting.”
With Red Bull doing so great, they probably don’t have anything to worry about. Or do they?
Towards the latter part of the season, Mercedes started to get their mojo back. The final changes to the car ahead of the US GP gave them that extra pace they needed to challenge for the top spot.

Despite Mercedes showing improvement, Red Bull kept the Mercedes duo at bay in the US, Mexico, and Abu Dhabi. However, it was Brazil where the Silver Arrows really shone. George Russell registered his maiden GP win while Lewis Hamilton extracted good results in the US, Mexico, and Brazil.
Talking with Sport Bild, Red Bull’s Helmut Marko told, “Ferrari is strong, but Mercedes will be stronger as a whole. Especially with a driver like Lewis Hamilton. He’s still a top pilot. Although Ferrari also has a very good driver in [Charles] Leclerc, he still makes mistakes.” [Translated using Google]
