Gerard Piqué is one of the biggest names in soccer. The Barcelona-born player has won major trophies available to win in soccer. He spent the majority of his career at FC Barcelona, with short stints in the start with Manchester United and Real Zaragoza. During his 14 years with the Spanish club, he made 396 appearances. He has also made 102 appearances for the Spanish national team.
In his long and illustrious career, Piqué notched 8 Spanish top-division championships and 3 UEFA Champions Leagues. Piqué also won the 2010 FIFA World Cup and the 2012 UEFA European Championship with the Spanish national team during what was the golden period of Spanish national soccer. Given the massive influence Gerard Piqué had on soccer, one of the most followed sports globally, he has a huge following among fans.
Pierre Gasly saddened over Piqué’s retirement announcement
F1 drivers, possibly because of their European heritage, tend to follow soccer. Among his fans is Pierre Gasly. Gasly, a French native, posted a story for Gerard Piqué when the announcement about his retirement was made public. In it, Gasly wrote “Legend! @3gerardpique” as a tribute to the soccer legend’s extraordinary career of more than 15 years.
Pierre Gasly has been a soccer fan since early in his childhood. Esteban Ocon narrated a story about Gasly playing soccer, “When we were seven or eight our parents were friends and he was playing football while I was driving go-karts. My dad said to him to try Esteban’s go-kart and after that he quit football for racing.”
Piqué was definitely one of the greatest players to play the sport in this era. His trophy cabinet proves that. The Spanish national might have had a tough time off the field in the past few years but his on-field performances have always been outstanding.
