Formula One is an intense sport; not only is it physically challenging, but it can also affect the mental health of a driver. Mercedes’ Valtteri Bottas opens up about the negative thoughts he has had over the years in F1.

The Finn is undoubtedly a talented driver on the grid. However, there had been times where Bottas would have negative thoughts that would affect him.

Formula One is the pinnacle of motorsports, demanding almost everything from a driver. Naturally, it can take a toll on the drivers, and Bottas talks about the effect it had on his mentality.

As quoted by Italehti. Fi Bottas said, “An ex-girlfriend (correction: Ex-wife) (Emilia) told me I hope the flight goes well. I said something that if it falls, then what? Then I’ll just get out of here. Something like these thoughts started to come out that nothing matters.” (Translated from Finnish via Google)

As the season comes to an end, Bottas would part ways with the Silver Arrows. Joining the team back in 2017, Valtteri will make way for incoming driver, George Russell. Bottas would go to Alfa Romeo and partner up with Guanyu Zhou next season.

The Finn was Lewis Hamilton’s teammates for five years; undoubtedly Hamilton pushed his teammate to the limit. Hence, being the teammate of the 7-time world champion will allow Bottas to bring immense experience to the Swiss-based team.

However, there are still two more races to go before the season comes to a close. Bottas and Hamilton would work together and aim to bag as many points as possible from the upcoming races to defeat Red Bull and claim their eighth consecutive constructors’ championship in Formula One.
