Valtteri Bottas will leave the Mercedes AMG team at the end of the season. He enjoyed five successful years with the team helping them in winning four consecutive championships and is on course for the fifth title. He still remains a key factor in the driver’s championship, as he could affect the chances of Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen.

Bottas in his time at Mercedes pushed Hamilton to his maximum in the qualifying. The qualifying remains one of the biggest strengths of the Finnish driver, and he also acknowledged the same. He recognized the fact that he can beat Verstappen in qualifying and help Lewis in the driver’s championship.

As reported by Formula Passion, Bottas has recently out-qualified Verstappen in Mexico and held off the challenge of the Red Bull driver in the Sprint race in Brazil. The Finnish driver hopes to out-qualify Max in the upcoming races to affect the driver’s championship.

But it obviously remains beatable. For example, qualification is one of my strengths and it’s my biggest chance to stand in front of him. In the race, Mercedes and Red Bull are the same, so we can beat him if I manage to have a good qualifying and start well.

Bottas is out of championship contention in the 2021 season. But it is nice to see that he is still willing to help his teammate Hamilton in his quest. Valtteri is certainly rapid over one lap and can beat Verstappen, but it would be interesting to see whether he could hold the Red Bull driver in race situations.
