After a rough start to his new chapter at Aston Martin, Sebastian Vettel has finally managed to score his first F1 points this season. The German is happy with the progress of the Silverstone-based team and looks forward to improving on his form.

The four-time world champion showed glimpses of improvement during Saturday’s intense qualifying session. He made it into the third round of qualifying and set the eighth fastest lap of the circuit.

On the main day, right when it mattered, Vettel showed what he was capable of doing and proved his critics wrong. The German driver came fifth and scored 10 points, his first ever for Aston Martin this season.

As quoted by Motorsport-Total.com, Seb said, “If you go out and have a good feeling straight away, then you can build on that. I was one of the fastest in the first 20 minutes of free practice and immediately felt very good in the car.”

“A very small update. That certainly didn’t hurt,” Vettel concluded.

Speaking to Channel 4 alongside Mark Webber, as quoted by PlanetF1, Vettel said, “Sometimes the criticism is justified and sometimes it’s not. Obviously, I have a very different view on some things because I get to see the full picture from my performance and rest assured, and Mark [Webber] knows this.

“I am very grumpy if I don’t perform at the level I want to perform at.

“I’ve not had a great time but I think there has been a trend where it’s got a little bit better and I just have to work on that,” Vettel concluded.

The 33-year-old German would like to further improve on this form and score some more points for his team in first season. He would hope for a similar result in the upcoming race at Baku.
