Fernando Alonso sets a trap within a trap
The Belgian Grand Prix of 2013 is memorable for a trick Alonso played upon Lewis Hamilton. Driving into the Kemmel Straight, Hamilton allowed Alonso to pass him and use up the DRS.
The strategy played by Hamilton was to let Alonso use up his DRS and then come from behind to take the lead. The ploy was well devised and Alonso even fell for the trap.

Hamilton let Alonso pass at La Source and sped up the Kemmel straight ahead. Speeding across the asphalt at over 300 kmph, Hamilton trailed Alonso throughout.
The Briton thought of overtaking him in the Les Combes ahead. The strategy was one of the finest. However, Hamilton overlooked the fact that Alonso had the KERS in place.
As soon as Hamilton sneaked in and tried to go past Alonso, he engaged the KERS and stuck to the lead. Eventually, Alonso went on to bag a 2nd place finish just behind Sebastian Vettel.

Fernando Alonso came a long way from that incident and now is out of action from Formula 1 following a retirement. On the other hand, Lewis Hamilton is on the verge of shattering Michael Schumacher’s record of 7 World Champion Titles.
After winning the Spanish Grand Prix in Barcelona, Mercedes will be looking ahead at the Belgium Grand Prix next weekend. Hopefully, Hamilton would go all the way to win instead of pulling out something similar to his trick 7 years ago.
