Round two at the Red Bull Ring is here, and the high-intense qualifying session is already done and dusted. And, just like all quali sessions, there was drama around the track, as drivers did their best to set the fastest lap in each session.

This time it was between two experienced drivers, Sebastian Vettel and Fernando Alonso. As Alonso was taking his final corner trying his best to get into Q3, Vettel was in his path, which made the former lose his pace and a chance to get into the final round.

Sebastian Vettel causes Fernando Alonso to lose out on Q3
In the dying moments of Q2, when Alonso was at the turn heading into the main straight, he encountered Vettel, who was unaware that the former was on a flying lap. Unfortunately, the Spaniard lost his momentum because of the encounter and wasn’t able to make it into Q3.

The Spanish driver was furious with what the German had done and was seen punching the air out of frustration. He said, “What the f*ck!! I cannot believe it.”

But Vettel soon waved to Alonso apologizing for his actions, and said on the team radio, “Why did you not tell me about Alonso?”

A major task lies ahead of Alonso on Sunday
Starting all the way down in fourteenth place, the two-time world champion has a challenge in front on him. Given that his championship has now begun, Alonso needs to perform well consistently if he wants to silence his critics.
While he has shown massive improvement in the past weeks, he would need to give it his all tomorrow to have any hopes of finishing in the points.
