The picture of Hamilton, standing against a wall and shying away from the media, still haunts his many fans. While Verstappen had tears of joy, Lewis could not meet eyes with anyone.

Carlos Sainz made Lewis Hamilton come back as he was leaving the circuit

Hamilton‘s solemn body language and unwillingness to talk was evidence enough of how hurt he was. His responsibilities, however, do not end there, as drivers need to complete their PR duties as well. Whether they win or lose, drivers are expected to take part in post-race interviews and answer questions.

In a recent video making the rounds, we could see Hamilton leaving the Abu Dhabi circuit after his loss. His friend and confidante Angela Cullen, who also happens to be his assistant, could be seen trying to talk to him. Following him as he speeds to leave the circuit, she tries to say something while Ferrari’s Carlos Sainz also follows. Seems like both of them succeeded, as Hamilton quickly turned around and went back in.

Hamilton and his previous title fight losses

Duty comes first! And this is not the first time Hamilton has lost a world championship. Though this one was understandably painful, Lewis has endured previous championship losses to Nico Rosberg and Kimi Raikkonen. In 2016, Hamilton, in a bid to cost Rosberg the title, kept defending against him as Nico struggled to pass. Ironically, years later, Hamilton had to face a similar fate at the same track, in the same Grand Prix, and sadly, he lost both times.
