Carlos Sainz left McLaren over a week ago now. The Spaniard spent the best days of his F1 career yet at the English Camp. However, after an impressive stint of two years, he decided that he needed a change of air. The winds of Italy called to him and thus, he walked away with Ferrari.
Sainz left behind his entire team and teammate at McLaren. Zak Brown and party gave him all they could and made him into the racer he is today. However, he knows that, from here, he will have to walk without them if he wants to win more than what he usually did. P4 and P5 do not suffice him anymore, it’s the victories that he desires now.
Keeping his aim in mind, is Ferrari the right spot for the Sainz Jr.?
Well, the Italians are going through a rough patch in F1. With the team lacking serious motivation and leadership, the doubts for Carlos’ future are valid. However, the team has been under hardships several times in these years and they have always found their way around.
Mattia Binotto has assured that both Carlos Sainz and Charles Leclerc want to extract the most from 2021. The team has put in endless hours to mend their mistakes and make the car better. New strategies are being developed to climb up the pecking order and do well on Sunday.
Maybe this is the very reason the Spaniard appears assured about his future on his first day at the Ferrari factory.
Carlos Sainz has made quite a name for himself in these past two years. With a podium at the Italian Grand Prix this season, he was everywhere. He is primarily responsible for McLaren’s P3 at the Constructor’s this season.
Ferrari would want him to continue that very spirit and help them overcome their perilous time.
His first day at Ferrari is like the first page of a new book for him. Ferrari overwhelmed him; the factory at Maranello and the very Italian essence seems to have already latched onto him. The Italians work differently, and their efficiency might intoxicate the Spaniard. From his words, he is already enjoying his time.
“I cannot wait, to be honest. Today, I had my first meetings, my first look around the factory and it is something that I will never forget and I cannot wait to do more often next year,” concluded Sainz.
Ferrari will not gamble with Carlos’ future because they know that then even the Tifosi will not be on their side. The spaniard imagines for an Italian journey that will be merry. Will it or will it not, time shall tell.
