WATCH: Carlos Sainz Switches Childhood Car for Dream Ferrari Car

In October, Carlos Sainz enjoyed a peaceful day in Maranello as he got ready to exchange his VW Golf for a brand new Ferrari. And not just any Ferrari; it’s his first one. Having had a stunning debut season with the Scuderia, it was time to take one home.
The excited Spaniard entered the headquarters in awe. Yet, he was not nervous. “I’ve been here many times before, so it’s nothing new for the moment.” Carlos Sainz also revealed that he will give away his Volkswagen Golf- the one he received as a gift from his parents when he was 18. Having gone through so many teams in his career, Sinz saved the big decision for the best one.

Looking at colors and designs, Sainz was a kid in a candy store in the Tailor Made section. However, Sainz had a dilemma. “The car itself is really beautiful; for me, it’s the most beautiful car as of right now, that’s why I decided to buy it. But I’m having serious doubts on whether to make it really racing and aggressive or more elegant, more smooth operator.”
Either way, the car would define Sainz, whose traits on the track include aggression mixed with elegance.
Carlos Sainz ready for Jeddah
The new Saudi Arabian track is yet another obscure setting for the F1 pool. However, Carlos Sainz knows one thing for certain: the midfield battle is far from over. Although the Prancing Horses have tallied a 39.5 advantage over McLaren, there is still much to fight for.
Jeddah is the fastest street circuit on the grid; it is second only to Monza- the temple of speed. Further, although McLaren can have the advantage, Alpha Tauri has been showing incredible pace.

With all this in mind, Sainz believes the upcoming weekend will not be too easy. “It looks like a very high-speed circuit, and we have seen in a high-speed circuit that with cars like Alpine, McLaren, and AlphaTauri, all of a sudden the field compresses a lot when it’s a high-speed circuit. So it could be a very tight battle in Jeddah.”

However, he hasn’t thrown in the towel yet. “I think we can be confident that we keep bringing points back and delivering like we are trying to.”
