What a battle it was between Charles Leclerc and Lewis Hamilton at the British Grand Prix at Silverstone. The pair went wheel-to-wheel on so many occasions and battled hard in the dying moments of the race. But the moment that got everyone talking and applauding them was the move on the Corpse corner.
Hamilton came side-by-side with Leclerc after the Wellington corner, but the Ferrari driver defended his position hard. While approaching the Corpse corner, the pair again went wheel to wheel, and it was the Monegasque driver who prevailed.

While Webber called Leclerc ‘his hero’, Coulthard said, “The best thing about Ferrari under pressure is Charles Leclerc. That was brilliant defensive driving, attacking driving – he’s on the hard tires, they’re old. You’ll not see a finer display.”

Hamilton was in a similar situation in the last year’s British GP against Max Verstappen. But it ended differently, as Verstappen had to retire from the race after colliding with the 7-time world champion.

“Charles did a great job. What a great battle. Very sensible driver and clearly a lot different to what we experienced last year. In Copse, for example, two of us went through there no problem. What a battle,” said Hamilton to Sky Sports F1.

Hamilton had the same battle with Leclerc in Silverstone last year as well. The Mercedes driver went wheel-to-wheel with the Ferrari driver for the lead, but Leclerc had to concede after he ran wide on the exit.
But this is the sort of racing that really gets the fans engrossed in the sport in the first place. Hopefully, we will see more Leclerc and Hamilton battles that will keep the fans on the edge of their seats.
