The Emilia Romagna Grand Prix at Imola may not have been the most exciting race of the season, but it provided some interesting moments. We saw Red Bull 1-2 for the first time in 6 years as they crushed the hearts of the Tifosi all around the track. But one moment that got the eye of everyone happened before the race and involved Carlos Sainz and Sebastian Vettel.

During the grid lap on the bus before the race, the 4-time world champion showed the finger to the Ferrari driver. It was a hilarious moment between the drivers, who were struggling to keep themselves warm in the rain.

But F1 fans all across the world were very curious why Vettel showed Carlos the finger. So they took to social media to share their own theories and guesses behind the incident.

Carlos Sainz reveals the reason behind his admiration for Sebastian Vettel

The Spanish driver replaced the 4-time world champion at Ferrari at the beginning of the 2021 season. But there are no hard feelings between the drivers on the track and Carlos mentioned he has great admiration for the legend. He revealed he respects Vettel very much for what he did when he was a Sim driver at Red Bull.

“He thought that the work I was doing in the simulator for him and for the team was important, and he had the kindness to say goodbye to Red Bull by sending a letter to all the employees personalised for each employee,” said Sainz.

“…he was kind enough to send me a letter thanking me for that effort in the simulator and those hours of work I had put in. And since then I have a special affection for him and I have a relationship with him beyond the cameras, which maybe I have never told him and someday I will tell him, but since then I have great respect for him,” added the Ferrari driver.

It is nice to see the respect Carlos has for Sebastian not only as a driver but as a person. It also shows that Vettel values the hard work of every team member and always recognizes their input to the team. Hopefully, we will continue to see more wholesome moments between the two.
