Lewis Hamilton did not have a good race at the Italian Grand Prix at Monza this past weekend, as he was involved in a horrific crash with Max Verstappen. Nevertheless, the 7-times world champion congratulated his old team, McLaren, as Lando Norris and Daniel Ricciardo achieved a spectacular result.

Norris was thrilled about being congratulated by his fellow countrymen. However, he was more glad to see that the Mercedes driver was doing fine after being involved in a horrible crash with his arch-rival.

Lewis Hamilton praises the McLaren boys for their victory at Monza

Even though the Knight had left the Woking-based team years ago, he still loves seeing them doing well. That’s exactly what happened at the recent race at Monza, where Ricciardo came home to take the victory, while Lando followed him in P2. Hamilton congratulated the duo, and acknowledging this gesture, Lando was grateful to see Lewis unharmed from the incident.

Lewis said on Instagram, Daniel Ricciardo Lando Norris congratulations!!. You guys did such a great job this weekend. So happy for you and my old team. It’s nice to see back on top. Enjoy.”

Lando replied on his story, “Firstly good to see your okay mate! And thank you, more fights to come hopefully!”

Can Hamilton bounce back for the Russian Grand Prix?

The Mercedes driver was aiming to achieve an excellent result at Monza in hopes to regain the lead in the title race. However, his incident with arch-rival, Verstappen, shattered those hopes.

However, the gap to Verstappen in the driver’s standings is still at five points. With a week off from F1, Hamilton would hope to regroup with his Mercedes colleagues and come out on top in Sochi.

The Knight is well aware of Verstappen’s three-place grid penalty that he will have overcome in Russia. Hence, Hamilton will hope to capitalize on this opportunity to help him in this title fight with the Red Bull prodigy.
