However, ‘The Iceman’ lost a bit of control of his Alfa Romeo racer and spun while entering the pitlane. The Finnish driver didn’t suffer significant damage to his car but is hoping not to repeat the incident in the second practice session of the day.

Kimi Raikkonen hits the wall while entering the pits in FP1

The 41-year-old driver had set the laps he wanted to around the Belgian track and was called back into the pits. However, it was more tricky than it was supposed to be, as Raikkonen was entering the pit he hit the wall with this left front tire.

It was no surprise that the veteran driver was concerned, and hoped that he severely damaged the car. He said, “Oh f** I hit the wall on the entry. I don’t know how much damage.”

He was told by the team that they would check if there was damage that came from the impact, and being told not to worry. Raikkonen hopes to minimize the mistakes and preparing himself for FP2.

How did Raikkonen do in the first session?

The Alfa Romeo driver was hoping to hit the ground running at Spa in the first practice session on Friday. However, it has not gone his way, as Raikkonen finds himself in seventeenth place in the timesheet.

The 41-year-old driver will be hoping to make amends in FP2 later in the afternoon and set a good time around Spa compared to the one seen in the first session of the day.
