The 2007 world champion, Kimi Raikkonen, hasn’t had a lot of luck with drinks since his entry into F1. The Finn has constantly found himself in a situation where the water pipe gets detached from his helmet, leaving him with no liquid to consume over an entire race.

A similar story unfolded at the Monaco Grand Prix earlier this season in May when Raikkonen had to survive through the entire race without consuming a drop of liquid. Well, the good news is Raikkonen has finally received his drink after waiting for over a month.

What did Kimi Raikkonen say?
Minttu Raikkonen took to social media to reveal a video of her husband, Kimi, holding a glass of drink in his hand. And Kimi eventually shared the same through his Instagram handle but managed to come up with an incredibly hilarious caption to it.
“Yes, I had it,” he wrote amusingly hinting that he finally managed to quench his thirst that had been haunting him since the race in Monaco.

Prior to the race in Monaco, the last time Raikkonen wound up a similar circumstance was back in 2018 at the Hungarian GP. Kimi was aching to have his drink during the race only to hear a ‘No’ from his race engineer at Ferrari.

He said, “No, Kimi. You will not have the drink.” It was later revealed that the Ferrari crew forgot to connect the water pipe. Nevertheless, Kimi drove his heart out to secure a podium finish at Hungaroring, only behind his teammate, Sebastian Vettel, and the eventual world champion, Lewis Hamilton.

Raikkonen’s hard luck with drinks continues…
Raikkonen’s tale of woes with drinks showed up recently in Monaco during the race. The Finn never told the team about his water pipe being detached.
However, following the race, Raikkonen took to the team radio to address the issue. He told his race engineer that the drink pipe came loose as early as the formation lap. He further claimed that he tried his best to reconnect the pipe but in vain.

“One thing again: that f***ing drink pipe came loose again on the formation lap. And it’s been behind my back for the whole race that f***ing filter. So I don’t know how. It’s been so difficult to connect it correctly,” he said.
Overall, considering Raikkonen’s terrible run with drinks over the years, there is a wide array of chances that this scenario could repeat in the future. Hence, will Alfa Romeo manage to avoid that? Only time will tell.
