Alfa Romeo will come back to the Formula 1 grid with the same driving line up as last season. The team has Kimi Raikkonen and Antonio Giovinazzi as their drivers, while Robert Kubica retains the position of a reserve driver this season as well.
In a recent YouTube video, we see the three drivers play a game of Taboo, having a great time ahead of the 2021 season. In this version of Taboo, the players were trying to guess different terms related to Formula 1 racing.
The Iceman is one of the most experienced Formula 1 driver on the grid. At 41-years-old, Raikkonen has 329 race starts and continues his third consecutive season with Alfa Romeo. The team’s principal, Frederic Vasseur, explained the Finn’s motivation to keep on racing.
“It is just a matter of commitment and motivation, and the commitment is still there and Kimi is more than motivated. I am optimistic for the future,” concluded Vasseur.
He further shared that while Kimi Raikkonen could stick around for the 2022 season as well, the team is looking forward to taking the seasons one by one.
The current motivation for the team is to focus on climbing the championship standing. As a Ferrari engine customer, Alfa Romeo also suffered the woes of a castrated power unit last season.
The deal between Ferrari and Alfa Romeo was supposed to end towards the end of the 2021 season. However, it is believed that the pair have come to an agreement and extended their partnership till 2025.
Do you think the team can turn around their campaign this season? Will Raikkonen’s passion for driving help them gain positions on the championship standing?
