Lewis Hamilton has been in Formula 1 for a whopping 15 years now, clinching record-equalling seven world championship titles. It was a dream run for the Briton until he hit a speed bump in 2021: Max Verstappen. The Dutchman has been all over Hamilton since the start of this season.

And the championship advantage of this season has swung like a pendulum, with neither giving up as of yet. Amidst such intense battling going on, Lando Norris faced a rather tricky question while playing as a chauffeur for a 12-year-old.

What happened in the video?

McLaren released an interesting promotional video of Hilton where Norris is dressed up as a chauffeur, owning the task of picking up and dropping a 12-year-old F1 fan to school. The young Briton arrived in his McLaren road car, picked up the kid named Thomas.

And while driving his way to school, Norris faced a rather interesting question. Thomas questioned, “Who do you think is better, Max or Lewis?

Considering Norris has always looked up to the seven-time world champion, many would have anticipated Norris to choose Hamilton over Verstappen. Moreover, Norris and Hamilton share the same nationality. But that’s not how it went.

The McLaren driver chose to play it safe and gave out a very diplomatic answer after being startled for a moment. “Oh, I can’t answer that,” he said with a wild laugh.

Are Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen equal in terms of drivers?

This is a question many fans have pondered upon, triggering quite a few wars of words between the two fandoms. There are two different perspectives from which one could look at this question, and both have contrasting answers.

When taking the ongoing 2021 season into consideration, one can agree that Hamilton and Verstappen are indeed equally fast. Both cherish different strengths and weaknesses, but when converging onto the track, the result has almost been very equal.

However, the truth is, it is almost impossible to compare the duo; both are competing in completely different eras. While Hamilton’s era was around other champions like Fernando Alonso, Sebastian Vettel, and Michael Schumacher, Verstappen’s era will surround upcoming stars like Lando Norris, George Russell, and Charles Leclerc.

Overall, it is reasonable to laud Hamilton for his competitiveness, which is still alive despite being drained out by the 15 years of racing. So, can he get a final and more crucial title out of this season or will Verstappen’s raw pace obstruct the Briton?
