But, boy did we get to see the classic, most aggressive version of the 7-time world champion today at Interlagos that once ruled the grid back in 2008. Hence, after securing the race win in his hero, Ayrton Senna’s home, Mercedes’ team principal, Toto Wolff arrived on the team radio to laud Hamilton’s champion drive.

Hamilton creates a new Brazil record

For the first time at Interlagos, a driver, starting from lower than P8 on the grid, managed to win the race. And who better than Hamilton to break that astonishing record. The Briton started the race from P10 and managed a strong getaway, clearing a couple of cars well before turn 1.

Then arrived the Sainz-Norris incident, which further pushed Hamilton up to P6. And following a couple of moves on Leclerc and Gasly and a simple pass on Bottas, it was just the Red Bull drivers standing in his way from the victory.

Both the Red Bull drivers, well aware of the current title situation, put up their best defense against Hamilton. However, with a fresh engine at the back, the Mercedes was feeding enough power to Hamilton to ease past the duo.

All in all, an incredibly amazing recovery drive from Hamilton, leaving the F1 community absolutely speechless. So, how impressed are you?
