WATCH: Lewis Hamilton Doesn’t Care About Verstappen’s Lap Times During the Russian GP

It is disheartening to be pulled back and installed in the race below the podium ranks, especially when you are the one who is leading it in the first place. Similarly, Lewis Hamilton wasn’t happy at all after he was pulled out of the race lead.

Ahead of the start of the race, Hamilton stopped right in front of the pit-lane exit. According to the regulations, it is a punishable offense if the reason is not justifiable. Hamilton’s practice starts justification fell short of ears and he was handed two 5-second stop-go penalties.

Lewis Hamilton was leading the race when he was asked to pull back to serve the penalty. The information infuriated Hamilton beyond measures. He dropped fast in the ranks and was dejected with the decision.

The conversations with his racing engineer Peter Bonnington revealed his falling hopes and sadness. “Well, you stopped me so early I have to manage now. I’ll struggle to make it to the end,” Hamilton was heard.

Lewis Hamilton suffers a dreadful week in Russia

The Russian Grand Prix seems to be causing quite a lot of trouble for Hamilton. Yesterday the Briton had a tough time coming into the Q3. However, in the final rounds, he set up two astounding laps to clinch the pole, while simultaneously setting up a new track record.

The penalty saw Hamilton lose his lead and go down significantly in the standings. However, the lead remained with Mercedes as Valtteri Bottas took advantage and claimed the top spot in no time.

The never give up attitude of Lewis Hamiton worked wonders as he cruised his way into the top three in no time. The penalty at Monza saw Lewis Hamilton finish the race off the podium. However, he came back strong in Sochi. Hamilton ended the race in the third position, finishing behind Valtteri Bottas and Max Verstappen.
