Drivers endure tremendous G forces every time they zip around a circuit, which requires some impressive strength. Overall, drivers have to be at a peak in their physical fitness in order to compete at the pinnacle of motor racing.

And after an intense Turkish Grand Prix last weekend, Lewis Hamilton has already started to prepare for the next race.

Meanwhile, taking to Instagram, the seven-time world champion shared a video of himself performing cryotherapy, a technique where the body is exposed to frigid temperatures. The Briton had the company of his physiotherapist and assistant, Angela Cullen.

“Monday recovery! The F1 season is intense from March till December. Training is essential, but recovery and taking care of your body is even more so. Angela Cullen and I are on the road together for around 280 days a year,” wrote Lewis Hamilton.

“Eating healthy, stretching, physio, meditation, skydiving, surfing, running, gym… oh and we race! We try to do it all and together we are the best team!”

“Here’s our cryo session today….man I don’t like the cold like this and I struggle every time at -100 degrees. Lol! I tell Angela, black people don’t do cold, we from the islands man needs sun,” jokes the Mercedes driver.

Lewis Hamilton to look for a comeback at next race

Both the title protagonists, Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen, hadn’t had a best of outings at the Turkish Grand Prix, but the former had a day to forget at Istanbul Park. Red Bull’s Max Verstappen couldn’t challenge for the lead as he came home 14.5 seconds adrift of the race winner, Valtteri Bottas.

On the other hand, the Briton, who was running strong at P3 after Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc pitted for a new set of intermediate tires, dropped to fifth after a poor pit stop strategy denied Hamilton his  177th podium.

With just six races remaining this year, Hamilton will look to finish ahead of Verstappen in as many races as possible. Currently, Lewis Hamilton sits second in the driver’s championship, only six points behind his arch-rival, Max Verstappen.
