The 2022 cars have been responding differently to different teams. All the teams have been facing some issues or the other during their running at testing. Amid all this, Lewis Hamilton mentioned he had a tough stint on day 2 running the Mercedes W13.

Hamilton was looking off the pace throughout the session when he was in the car. The conditions on the circuit didn’t help the Mercedes driver as he was struggling to get a handle on his car.

Lewis Hamilton describes the conditions as ‘tough’

As reported by Formula1.com, the 7-time world champion mentioned the car was all over the place during his runs. Many drivers have complained that the new 2022 cars are difficult to drive in the slower corners. Since the new cars are on the heavy side, it takes a lot of effort to get on the throttle in a slow corner.

It’s definitely tough out there. It’s windy, and the wind changed around quite a bit today. But yes, generally it’s been tough. Yes, it’s tough at the moment,” said Lewis.

“I mean, you can see on the onboard tank slappers left, right and center, and then bouncing and bumping. [The car is] not quite happy at the moment, but we’re trying to tame it.

But it’s just hurdles that we’re coming across with this new kind of car that everyone’s facing in 2022. I’m confident in the team here, and back at the factory, that we’ll figure it out. But it’s definitely not going to be a smooth road,” Hamilton added.

It looks like there might be something inherent in the car that is causing trouble. But the German team have looked quite strong whenever they have been on the track. Lewis Hamilton would hope that the team can resolve all the problems before the season opener next week.
