Celebrity spottings add to the gusto of big races like the American GP, Monaco, and now, Great Britain. The teams are finally getting back to noisy circuits, filled with roaring fans.

With things finally opening up, celebrities can fly down to support their favorite teams. Tom Cruise was one of the many star-studded guests at Silverstone, making his presence known at the Mercedes garage.

The Mission Impossible star was spotted wearing team headsets, blending in with the Mercedes crew. Technical Director James Allison admits to being star-struck in the recent Mercedes Race Debrief. He describes the experience of taking Tom Cruise around the garage and talking to him about Formula One cars.

Allison describes the actor as “a charming guest, he was really interested in what we were doing.” He adds Cruise was almost like a fly on the wall, observing everything. “He was just listening and talking to us all and was fascinated to be taken around the garage and see the amount of love and care we put in our car.”

Mercedes invited Tom Cruise to the garage. However, he seemed intent on seeing Hamilton cross the line first. The actor intently stared at the screen in front of him, rolling through the emotions of the race. After the race, he hugged Hamilton and gave a pat on the back for a job well done.

James Allison shared his revelations on the two industries. Acting and the Mercedes garage have a lot in common. “The same sort of people who work in movies, they are obsessive about what they do and they love what they do.” Allison believes Tom Cruise picked up on this observation when he visited their garage.

It’s no secret that the Silver Arrows are an incredibly close-knit team. The entire team stands behind Hamilton as he receives the blame for the crash on the first lap. Consequentially, Lewis enjoys working with the team he’s been a part of for nine years.
