The iconic Ferrari F300 challenged McLaren for the title in the 1998 Season. It was not the fastest car that season as it was competing against a rocket ship built by Adrian Newey in McLaren. But in the hands of Michael Schumacher, it was a capable race-winning car.

It had an interesting design to give more aerodynamic speeds to the drivers, especially Schumacher. The Ferrari F300 had tower wings just behind the cockpit to have better airflow throughout the car.

During a qualifying lap from Imola, we could see the German driver giving it his all to challenge the time of McLaren driver David Coulthard. The lap was perfected described by Murray Walker and Martin Brundle in the commentary. But at the end, Schumacher finished four-tenths down on Coulthard’s time.

We are once again heading to Imola this weekend to host a Formula One race. But this season Ferrari are looking in a much better shape than any of the previous visits to the track. The team is currently leading both drivers and constructors’ world championship after 3 races of the season.

Can Ferrari and Charles Leclerc continue their winning form in Imola?

Charles Leclerc has won 2 of the first 3 races in the 2022 season. He absolutely dominated the Australian Grand Prix and completed the first Grand Slam of his career. But heading into the first home race of the season, Leclerc is a bit more cautious in his approach.

“Italy will be incredible, but we need to approach the race weekend, just like we approached the first three weekends. I think it’s extremely important not to put extra pressure on ourselves and not try to overdo things,” said Charles.

“Because we are working, I think, as a team extremely well since the beginning of the season and we just need to keep doing our job, just like we did in the first three weekends,” said the Ferrari driver.

Ferrari have been competitive in all 3 tracks that the sport has visited this season. So it would not be a stretch to say that the Italian team would be competitive at the Imola track. Hopefully, they can compete and fight for the win in front of their home fans for the first time since 2019.
