A day after McLaren’s car launch, Williams took their Fw43B car to Silverstone in a plain livery. George Russell and Nicholas Latifi got their first drive in their 2021 car.

This is the first team car to be produced in the absence of the Williams family. The family handed over the ownership of the team to Dorilton Capital owing to financial trouble.

It was the first of a two-day period allocated to the team as filming days. “It’s understood the day ran smoothly and Williams completed their programme as hoped, with rules dictating only 100km of running can be completed on demonstration Pirelli tyres,” states a report.

Once a championship team, Williams have had a disappointing couple of years, with zero points in 2020. The team saw an ownership change to bring in a positive impact and to assist their fight on their way back to glory.

The new owners of the team, Dorilton Capital, are aware that an immediate performance overhaul is highly unlikely. The team have a strategic approach to improving one aspect after another over time.

“They’re working on a 10-year horizon in terms of this as a project for them which is great. That’s not to say we’re not under pressure.

“They expect us to improve, they expect us to deliver. There’s no free ride here but we’re up for it,” said team principal, Simon Roberts.

Williams Racing saw a significant performance increase last season. There were multiple Q2  appearances and a near-point miss by George Russell at Imola.

The 2021 season will not have a major rejig; however, the team hopes to be in a much better position by the 2022 season. With the 2022 technical regulations around the corner, F1 pundits believe it is a good time to take over the team.
