Yes, you read it right. Tom Cruise indeed drove an F1 car. In a video posted by Red Bull’s Official YouTube channel, the Top Gun star was seen completing a lap in the Red Bull F1 car in 2011. The Austrian team invited the Mission Impossible star to take a break from shooting his Mission Impossible Ghost Protocol and come check out the fast machine.

How did the Red Bull drive go for the Superstar?

Red Bull’s former star driver David Coulthard took the opportunity to be Tom’s instructor. The 13-time Grand Prix winner helped and instructed Cruise to drive around the Southern California’s 2.5 miles (4 kilometers) Willow Spring Circuit. Tom reached the top speed of 181 mph (291 kmph).

Interestingly, that was super impressive given his instructor, David was just 4 mph ahead of him in terms of top speed. The praise for the superstar doesn’t end here as Tom improved his lap time by 11 seconds by the time he finished with his drive. That’s a quite remarkable feat.

But all of this shouldn’t come as a shock, as we all know that Tom is pretty famous for carrying out his stunts on his own.
