After spending five years with Mercedes on the Formula One grid, Valtteri Bottas has joined Alfa Romeo for the forthcoming season. The Finn was brought in to replace the retiring Kimi Raikkonen.

With the new season just around the corner, and after a well-deserved winter break, Bottas has gone to the team factory to start a new chapter in his F1 career.

Valtteri Bottas shows the F1 community how his first day at Alfa Romeo was

After a long season, drivers were looking forward to their time off. Now as the 2022 season edges closer and closer, drivers who have signed for a new team are getting ready for their first day at work.

Bottas went to Hinwil, where Alfa Romeo’s headquarters are, to get prepared for the new season. He took to Instagram to show his credentials, which stated that he was the team’s “No 1” driver. Considering that he often played the role of the “No 2” driver at Mercedes, it won’t be a surprise to see him getting excited to be the main man at Alfa Romeo.

Additionally, the Swiss-based outfit is looking forward to the upcoming season, as they will have a new driver lineup in the form of Bottas and Guanyu Zhou.

What does the Finn have to say about his new team?

The 32-year-old had five successful years at the Brackley-based squad. In the middle of the 2021 season, it was announced that he would leave the Silver Arrows to join the Swiss-based outfit.

Speaking about his new team, Bottas said, “A new chapter in my racing career is opening: I’m excited to join Alfa Romeo Racing ORLEN for 2022 and beyond for what is going to be a new challenge with an iconic manufacturer.

“Alfa Romeo is a brand that needs no introduction, they have written some great pages of Formula 1 history and it’s going to be an honour to represent this marque. The potential of the setup in Hinwil is clear and I am relishing the opportunity to help lead the team forward up the grid, especially with the new regulations in 2022 giving the team a chance to make a leap in performance,” Bottas concluded.
