The Turkish Grand Prix will have taken a huge toll on Valtteri Bottas. Considering that the nightmares are going to haunt him for days to come, will he stay optimistic following his horrific outing at Istanbul Park?

Valtteri Bottas has been exceptional this season; except for Max Verstappen, many have not challenged him. As it stood yesterday, he was the only driver who could have stopped Lewis from winning the championship.

The Turkish Grand Prix was a wet race; therefore, even staying on the track was an ordeal, let alone getting a grip. However, the manner in which the Finn ended up, it is pitiful.

When a journalist questioned him about wanting to skip a day in 2020, Bottas’ answered as expected. “Today, yes.”

However, to jinx up the heavy ambience, he did not let his humor slide. “Or maybe the day someone bought a bat in Wuhan.” Bottas joked with the Ziggo Sport reporter. However, he reconsidered and settled that it was Sunday that he wanted to forget.

Valtteri Bottas should not get demoralized

Valtteri Bottas is undoubtedly a great racer. However, this weekend was not very great for him. His race was literally out for a spin on Sunday as the Finn spun 6 times in the entire race. Will he be able to get past this? Only time will tell.

The Finn trailed Hamilton for the entirety of the season. However, he made sure that he remained on the podium with his teammate, either right or left of him.

Sadly, yesterday, not only did he miss the podium but finished at P14, Mercedes’ worst finish of the season.

Bottas was the only racer who could have stopped Lewis Hamilton from winning the championship. He had to finish the race in a manner where he could stay 8 points ahead of the Briton. However, fate had something else in mind altogether.

Yesterday’s race might have been fatal for the Finnish, but it sure taught him some important lessons. Valtteri is lucky to be racing beside the legend of this era. His education will be excellent and he will have plenty of time to implement it.

Bottas has a tall task ahead of him; however, he will have to come out stronger than this. He sure has a lot to learn, and this should be a learning experience for him.
