“We are Really Bad” – Lando Norris Desperately Seeking Positivity Amidst McLaren F1 Struggles

Lando Norris finishes the second race of the season with a P7. The young lad showcased some excellent performances on the Jeddah track. Meanwhile, his teammate Daniel Ricciardo had to leave the race because of a problem with the car. The McLaren team is still struggling and the young Brit critically points out those faults after the Saudi Arabian GP.
The Woking-based team has been struggling since the pre-season. The poor performance seems to haunt the orange outfit even in Saudi Arabia. Daniel Ricciardo and Lando Norris are still struggling with the new McLaren car. They are having a hard time getting the maximum race pace out of the 2022 challenger.

Lando Norris on the struggles with MCL36
After the Saudi Arabian GP, Norris shared his frustration because of his struggling with the car and failing to get podiums this season. He revealed how the 2022 challenger MCL36 suffers at slow-speed corners and long straights and only excels at the high and medium-speed corners. So, the young Brit was able to finish P7 after starting the race at P11. He hopes Australia would be a similar case because it features many high-speed corners.

Lando reported, “No… the only way is not up, for us it can also be down. I love to be positive but with the slow speed, we are really bad. I’m long off guys even these guys [Alpine]. Bahrain was the evidence of that.”

“But when we come to the track where we can show them all the speed that our car has good in the high and medium-speed corners. That’s where we were strong today and that’s where I cut Esteban, ” the Briton added.

“But if we had more slow-speed corners then I struggle a lot more. So on the slow speed tracks, we are gonna struggle, we know that and we expect that. But tracks like here and maybe Australia is a bit more high speed,” concluded the 22 year old.
Can McLaren make a comeback to the front in 2022?
McLaren is one of the best F1 teams and has been competing for the third-place finish alongside Ferrari for the past few seasons. But the story is different for the English constructor this season. Ferrari are no longer competing for a third-place but eyeing for the top spot against Red Bull. Meanwhile, the Woking base is not even able to compete for third place.

But it is still too soon to reach a conclusion. There are still 21 races left in this season. Also, the English constructors have one of the best driver duo, the veteran Daniel Ricciardo and the prodigy Lando Norris. So. let’s look forward that if the McLaren F1 can make a comeback this season to the fight at the front or not.
