Ever since the start of the 2023 season, the F1 rumor mill is abuzz with talks of Lewis Hamilton leaving Mercedes. These rumors have gathered more steam thanks to the poor state of the W14. These rumors about Hamilton’s future tip the Mercedes man to retire or join Ferrari in an extraordinary twist of fate. The storied past of the Maranello outfit is a strong lure even for a driver of Hamilton’s stature. However, not just Mercedes boss Toto Wolff, not just Hamilton himself now even the fans are ridiculing these rumors after the recent comments from Wolff.
The abysmal state and not improving the state of the W14 are playing a vital role in the stalled discussions. For those who think it’s about the money, that was never a factor for Hamilton. However, money discussion between friends is always awkward. Wolff revealed to RacingNews365, such is the case with Hamilton’s current contract negotiations while ridiculing the Ferrari rumors.

“These rumours come up every two years when we have to sign a new contract. But none of this is true. We discuss normally, without any time pressure,” Wolff said.
“It’s just uncomfortable that two friends, two blood brothers who have been through thick and thin for ten years, suddenly have to discuss money. I’m firmly convinced that we’ll find each other, there’s not a millimetre of doubt for me,” he concluded.

In fact, the Tifosi is content with their current lineup but wants to see the team do better and provide the drivers with better machinery.

Hamilton and Mercedes share a bond, one that will go down the history as one of the most incredible partnerships ever. However, will the poor state of the W14 force this long drawn-out separation, we will find out sooner or later!
