After putting out a dismal campaign, Lando Norris and Oscar Paistri finally tasted victory at the British Grand Prix. They continued their run at the Hungarian Grand Prix, where they yet again found themselves in Max Verstappen’s vicinity. However, the Belgian Grand Prix weekend will be remembered as the one when Oscar Piastri first felt comfy taking the lead and set a record for many rookies by doing it in just his first season.
Just two weeks ago, Zak Brown made the decision to add spice to make the competition between his drivers even more fierce. When the American was questioned about the team’s performance, in particular, to pinpoint the driver he wanted to see in the lead after the Hungarian Grand Prix, the CEO responded, “He (Piastri) is doing a great job,” alluding to the possibility of seeing Piastri out-qualify Norris.
Since joining McLaren in 2019, Lando Norris has qualified faster than drivers like Carlos Sainz and Daniel Ricciardo. Even though the Australian Rookie is well aware of the 23-year-old’s incredible skills, he recently expressed his desire, or rather, a threat, against the British driver. Oscar Piastri, in addition to closing the distance with Norris, is interested in surpassing the McLaren star.

The Formula 1 season is now in its summer break, and the teams and drivers are taking this opportunity to reflect on their campaigns in order to avoid making the same mistakes they may have made earlier in the year. Later, after detailing how he had made certain regrettable errors that he had hoped not to make he added, “I think before the season I said if I was to make mistakes, I want to try and make them once and learn from them and not make them again. And there’s been a couple of times where I’ve made a similar mistake, but I feel like I’m improving on that. So it’s, it’s generally going well.”
