The F1 race at Austin, Texas ended with Max Verstappen coming out as the winner. In the race, where Red Bull Racing picked up the constructors’ championship, Alpine’s Fernando Alonso put up a massive fight to be a contender for the driver of the day. Fans applauded the valiant efforts put up by the Alpine veteran on social media.
Alonso finished the race in P7 after a brilliant fight with Norris, who fended off the Spanish driver to finish P6. The Briton had quite a lot to say about the Spaniard after the race. “When I did, so, it all went very well. It was fun, especially to race Fernando last few laps like, it was tough. It was very tough, he’s a difficult competitor. He’s the last guy I would want to be up against in the final few laps, but yeah, he makes it a lot of fun,” conveyed the McLaren driver.
Fans admired Fernando Alonso’s efforts on Twitter
Despite having a major shunt with Aston Martin’s Lance Stroll in Lap 21, Alonso recovered brilliantly from last place to eventually having points in his bag. Moreover, the Alpine driver started from P14 after taking the grid penalty due to ICE.
