‘George Russell is the type of guy…’. Pretty sure all F1 fans have heard this by now. Turns out Mercedes driver Russell himself is aware of this gigantic meme and seems to like it. So much so that he made a video about the same with his team. For the fun of it, he also told the fans exactly what kind of guy he is, refuting some of the memes and also accepting many of them.

Russell’s 2022 couldn’t have been better. Nobody can tell that the driver is in his first season with the Brackley outfit, given his remarkable performances. In his very short time with the top team, the driver has not set a foot wrong, establishing himself as a real threat.

While on the grid, he’s a force to be reckoned with, off it, he fulfills his duties of a meme king. His reaction when he found out about his viral meme?  “One of my friends messaged me saying: ‘You’re trending on Twitter.’ And I was like: ‘Oh, God. Why am I trending? What has someone written about me now? What have I said? What have I done?”

“Reading a lot of them made me feel very British, to be honest, which I took with a lot of pride. It was funny to see some people’s perception…”
