‘Where Is All This Hate Coming From?’: Alex Albon Explains F1 Fans’ Finicky Criticism

The 2020 Formula 1 season is ending, which means Alex Albon will find out about his F1 future soon. For Albon, this season was all about making a point that he can perform in a top Formula 1 car.
He replaced Pierre Gasly in Red Bull and had an incredible first race as he displayed some wonderful racing skills. He deservedly got himself a contract for this season. However, there was a steep fall in his performance this year.
Albon has been consistently slower than his teammate, Max Verstappen. Given the fact that his spot will depend on his performances, the likes of Nico Hulkenberg and Sergio Perez will also be in contention for the seat for the 2021 season.

The Red Bull driver has faced fierce criticism. However, he clarified that he knows how to deal with it now. Furthermore, he stated that criticism swings back and forth based on different aspects of one’s career.
He pointed out, “Even with Romain at the start, I thought ‘where is all this hate coming from?’ And everything switches. For instance with Pierre Gasly, it’s turned for the better. It swings and it goes.”
“On my side, it doesn’t help. There’s no performance in looking at Instagram or Twitter. I try to stay away from it as much as I can and honestly that’s the focus. The spotlight has been on me from the first race this season. Even when I didn’t think it should be, it was.”
Alex Albon explains that all the negativity is tough
Everyone expected Alex Albon to push Max and the silver arrows from the word go. It is surely difficult to challenge the top drivers as soon as you come to Formula 1. As a result, Albon has faced a lot of criticism for his performance.

He said, “It’s never fun to see negativity everywhere you look but it’s part of the game really.” Albon also mentioned that he is thankful for the opportunity that he has in Formula 1.

The day is not far when Red Bull will prove the F1 world with the official word on the second driver for the 2021 season. Will it be Hulkenberg, Sergio Perez or will it continue to be Alex Albon? It will be interesting to see who joins Max Verstappen to challenge Mercedes next season.
