Valtteri Bottas and Zhou Guanyu celebrate with a beer

As Zhou realized he did not have enough pace to pass cars in front, he let Bottas pass and do the job. The former Mercedes driver showcased a mature drive and delivered points despite starting P14. Valtteri, however, felt he could have done more had it not been for the lock-up after the second safety car.

Speaking after the race, he said, “I’m happy about today’s race and we’re happy as a team. Everyone did a really good job – to go from 14th on the grid to ninth at the flag definitely classes as a good result. We could have been even higher, but the Safety Car at the end didn’t really play in our favor: it canceled the advantage we had on the cars behind us, and it left us exposed. Still, we scored more than our direct rivals so we can’t complain too much.”

Zhou later posted a photo of the two enjoying some beer after the race.
