Last year Jos Verstappen had an interview with David Coulthard. There the Sr. Verstappen shared key details about the German great and why he stands out more than Hamilton. Both the drivers have sheer skills but Jos Verstappen made some points that might force people to think twice before choosing their favorite.
He said, “Well, I think that’s a difficult one, but I mean Michael, in his time… was special, and he was motivated and he was fit, I think he was very fast. And the same with Lewis, but I think you can’t say who is the better one you know. Or, who had more luck to drive the fastest car at that time, both had, you know.”

“I think Michael created more towards his liking, you know. He took people from Benetton to Ferrari”
Adding further, “I think with Lewis, I mean he made the right call to go to Mercedes at the right time, nobody thought forehand that he was winning six titles with them, and I think he’s absolutely top driver but he also had the top material.”

Being an F1 driver himself, Sr. Verstappen knew how to train his son. Indeed, the training was fruitful, as we saw Max Verstappen claiming his second title this year. In light of this, Verstappen Sr made a bold claim.

The major reason behind his bold claim is said to be the F1’s regulations, which will largely remain the same in the near future.

Talking with Viaplay, he said, “The rules will remain largely the same, the field will therefore come closer together and we will have better races. But the strongest driver always floats to the top. If Red Bull continues like this, we will certainly have a nice five years.”
