In about 10 days, the circus will travel to the land down under for the Australian GP. The 2024 Australian GP will be the 27th edition of the race on the Melbourne Grand Prix Circuit built around the city’s Albert Park. Before that, the race was conducted on the street circuit in Adelaide as the penultimate race of the season for a decade from 1985 to 1995. However, since 1996, the venue and the race’s position in the calendar changed. Since 2019, the circuit also changed and has remained the same. The race was not conducted only on two occasions in 2020 and 2021 due to covid. So in Australian GP’s long and rich history with the circus, let’s look at who has the most wins on the circuit.

The 2023 Australian GP saw reigning world champion Max Verstappen secure pole position and win the race. The front row is the best starting position to secure a race win in Melbourne with 17 of the 26 races have been won from the front row. Except for the Red Bull man, four other current drivers have won the Australian GP namely: Fernando Alonso (2006), Lewis Hamilton (2008, 2015), Valtteri Bottas (2019), and Leclerc (2022). However, the man who holds the record for most Australian GP wins is Michael Schumacher.

The German legend won the race in Melbourne on four different occasions. All his wins came when he was driving for Ferrari. Coincidentally, his wins also came in the same years as his championship titles for Ferrari, 2000, 2001, 2002, and 2004. The German couldn’t make it five in a row as he finished the 2003 Australian GP in P4 despite starting the race in pole position.
