A mere Brazilian media brought three-time Formula One world champion, Nelson Piquet’s controversial comment, to light on Monday. And barely 24 hours later, the entire racing fraternity is talking about it, including the victim, Lewis Hamilton, himself.

Of course, it all began with many, including journalists and fans from across the world, demanding a statement from F1, condemning the actions of Kelly Piquet’s father. The end result was indeed a win for the entire fandom, as F1, along with the governing body, FIA, and Hamilton’s team, Mercedes-AMG, gave out the much-yearned statement through social media.

Hours after the rather stale statements flooded the social media, Hamilton decided to raise his voice by revealing a statement himself.

The Mercedes star took to Twitter to release a statement directed at the former Brazilian world champion. “It’s more than language. These archaic mindsets need to change and have no place in our sport. I’ve been surrounded by these attitudes and targeted my whole life. There has been plenty of time to learn. Time has come for action,” Hamilton wrote.
