He recently pledged around $24.6 million to his charitable foundation called Mission 44. The Foundation aims to support and empower young people from under-represented groups and reduce opportunity gaps in education and employment.

Hamilton wants to give the opportunity to the younger generation and provide resources he may not have access to.

Lewis Hamilton explains his reason for launching Mission 44

The 7-time world champion has seen a lot of adversity to become a part of the expensive sport that Formula 1 is. He comes from a working-class background and wants to provide resources to kids who come from the same background.

“Supporting the ambitions of underrepresented young people has always been important to me and Mission 44 represents my commitment to create real change within this community,” said Hamilton.

“In my early life, I experienced first-hand how coming from an underrepresented background can affect your future but, luckily for me, I was able to overcome those odds through opportunity and support. I want to ensure that other young people from similar backgrounds are able to do the same,” said the F1 icon.

It is so nice to see Hamilton giving to the people in such a heartwarming manner. He truly wants to make this sport more accessible and diverse going forward. Mission 44 will work towards removing the same struggles that Hamilton faced growing up.

Let’s see if there are any future F1 drivers who benefit from the Mission 44 foundation. But it is nice to see the British driver continuing to stand for his ideals and beliefs.
