Scuderia Ferrari driver Sebastian Vettel is one of a rare breed of elite sports personalities that don’t have a manager. Vettel was recently advised by former Force India boss Colin Kolles to get himself a manager because the politics in the sport is too strenuous to deal with. However, the German maintains his stance and insists that instead of having a manager, he relies on his near and dear ones for support.

According to Planet F1, Vettel was quoted saying, “Maybe (having a manager) helps here and there, But I think this is the way I always went with it. I don’t want to say I’ve been alone in that respect, of course, you have people that stand by you.”

“But I think what is more important than public opinion is that you know which people you can trust and which people you can build on. I think I have a good environment and I’m still very positive.”

Vettel has never been one to be easily influenced by popular opinion. Unlike most other sportsmen of his generation, Vettel has also never had his own social media accounts. He prefers to keep his private life to himself. External validation has never been important to the 4-times world champion.

Vettel also provided an update about his future, but it was nothing new. The German said, “At the moment there is nothing new, it could still take a while. You don’t have to be a genius nor a rumor specialist to know that there are not so many free seats left.”

The Scuderia man said that he doesn’t intend to continue just for the sake of it. Winning races is still his biggest motivation and if he thinks he’ll get the chance to do so next year, then he may continue. However, for now, Vettel is still trapped at Ferrari.

With only 16 points from 6 races, it has been far from an ideal season for him thus far. With a week off, can he come back at Spa and build on the positives in Barcelona? Only time will tell.
