Ferrari has been working on developing the power unit for the 2022 season since its failure in 2020. It seems the hard work is finally fruitful for the Maranello base and their customers. All the Ferrari-powered cars were shining in the pre-season testing and now they again shined in the practice and qualifying in Bahrain. Meanwhile, the Mercedes and cars with their engine are struggling this season.
Even Haas F1 team principal Guenther Steiner believes that the Italian’s engine is the best in this season. The Haas boss said, ” I think the Ferrari engine is now the best engine. I honestly think that and that gives a lot of credit to them because they were in the same position as us. They had to take a lot of s**t from people about it. And they just got back, did their homework and came back with something very good.”
Can Ferrari win the Bahrain GP?
The Italian constructors are among the favorites to win the season opener. Ferrari has showcased some outstanding race pace in the pre-season testing in Barcelona and Bahrain. They again were outstanding in the free practice and qualifying in Bahrain. Charles Leclerc will start the first race at pole while his teammate Carlos Sainz will be behind him at P3.

The Maranello base would be fighting against the Austrian constructor Red Bull in Bahrain. Both RB18 will start the race just behind each F1-75. Because Max Verstappen qualified at P2 while Sergio Perez at P4. It would be fascinating to see whether Ferrari will win the first race or lose even after their impressive power unit.
