Ferrari qualified at the pole for the 2022 Bahrain Grand Prix with Charles Leclerc while Carlos Sainz got third place on the starting line-up. Further, two more cars made it to the Top 10 of the starting grid for Bahrain with the help of the Ferrari engine inside them.

The former Mercedes driver Valtteri Bottas finished P5 in the Bahrain Q3 with Alfa Romeo and Haas F1’s Kevin Magnussen finished P7. Both F1 teams are Ferrari customers for the power unit.

Ferrari has been working on developing the power unit for the 2022 season since its failure in 2020. It seems the hard work is finally fruitful for the Maranello base and their customers. All the Ferrari-powered cars were shining in the pre-season testing and now they again shined in the practice and qualifying in Bahrain. Meanwhile, the Mercedes and cars with their engine are struggling this season.

Even Haas F1 team principal Guenther Steiner believes that the Italian’s engine is the best in this season. The Haas boss said, ” I think the Ferrari engine is now the best engine. I honestly think that and that gives a lot of credit to them because they were in the same position as us. They had to take a lot of s**t from people about it. And they just got back, did their homework and came back with something very good.”

Can Ferrari win the Bahrain GP?

The Italian constructors are among the favorites to win the season opener. Ferrari has showcased some outstanding race pace in the pre-season testing in Barcelona and Bahrain. They again were outstanding in the free practice and qualifying in Bahrain. Charles Leclerc will start the first race at pole while his teammate Carlos Sainz will be behind him at P3.
