McLaren has released a statement informing that three of its term members, including CEO Zak Brown, have tested positive for COVID-19. The news has left Formula One in shock as the sport was preparing to welcome full capacity at the British Grand Prix this weekend.

The Woking-based team was looking forward to their home race after a positive Austria race. The statement also provided a seemingly positive update on the McLaren drivers, Daniel Ricciardo and Lando Norris.

Neither of the drivers have tested positive for Covid-19

As per the statement released by McLaren, neither of their drivers were in close contact with any of the infected members. They are likely to race this weekend at Silverstone and try to bring as many points as possible for the team.

The statement read,” McLaren Racing confirmed today that three team members, including CEO Zak Brown, tested positive for covid-19 during the team’s rigorous testing program before the British Grand Prix. Neither of our drivers are close contacts.

“All three cases are unconnected and now isolating in accordance with government guidelines. The team’s operations for the British Grand Prix are unaffected,” said the statement.

After the statement issued by the team, McLaren CEO Zak Brown tweeted and reiterated his support for the team.

“Following our team’s pre-event testing for the British GP, I’ve tested positive for covid-19. I’ve notified all my close contacts and isolating in accordance with govt guidelines.
