In this cutthroat world of Formula 1, we rarely come across two drivers who keep their competitive spirits aside and push each other to do better. Put the drivers in different teams and this scenario becomes out of the ordinary. However, the new generation of F1 drivers is changing this outlook toward the sport. In fact, some of the best examples come from the same regeneration of drivers. To highlight the same, let us tell you about a not-heard-before incident between Williams man Alex Albon and Mercedes’s George Russell.

Albon started racing a few years before Russell was the guy to beat in the karting circles. The two formed a relationship during the time and when the Williams driver was graduating from his karting team, the best at the time, he recommended Russell as his replacement. According to a post on X (formerly Twitter), this was a monumental step in Russell’s career.

The tweet read, “George Russell said he owes Alex Albon a lot because Alex told one of the best karting teams back then to sign George which was vital for his career. George then pushed in 2021 for Alex to get the Williams seat, so you could say he paid him back.”
