Like it or not, the Formula 1 2025 silly will be a topic of conversation throughout the current campaign thanks to one early announcement. Some other factors added to this F1 merry-go-round and made it more exciting, although with just speculations. However, keeping everything aside and speaking from pure experience, F1 veterans Tom Clarkson and Natalie Pinkham, along with L’Equipe’s Fred Ferret, made predictions about the 2025 driver lineup. When the three landed on the topic of Alex Albon, Ferret, and Clarkson made an interesting point boasting the chances of the Thai-British driver joining Red Bull.

As we all know, Albon was part of the Red Bull family and raced for the team in 2019 and 2020. However, after comparatively underwhelming performances, he was demoted to a reserve role in favor of Sergio Perez and then eventually found a seat in 2022 at Williams. In 2023, he found his feat and finished an incredible season with multiple results in the top 10, earning some much-needed track credit. Because of his powerful showing in 2023 and despite a valid contract until 2025, Clarkson and Ferret made predictions for his future.

In these predictions, Ferret highlighted how the Thai fraction of Red Bull has more power within the company and is pulling the strings within the team. Even Clarkson made an interesting revelation about their relationship with Albon. So during the latest episode of the F1 Nation Podcast when Clarkson asked, “Could he return to Red Bull? Could he jump to Mercedes? Could he even go to Aston Martin? Or does he stay at Williams and remain integral to James Vowels’ project?”

Ferret replied, “So are we going crazy? Remember that in Red Bull the big boss is Thai and Alex is Albon is driving for Thailand, so it wouldn’t be stupid to have a Thai driver alongside Max Verstappen or whoever will be driving in 25.

And then Clarkson revealed, “Yes, he has personal sponsorship from the Thai owner of Red Bull still to this day. That’s an interesting dilemma for him, isn’t it?”

To stay or not to stay. It surely is an interesting dilemma for Albon as he is one of the strongest contenders for the seat. Now, going by Albon’s plans for his near future, he might just dissolve his Williams contract in an attempt to secure a Red Bull drive.

The Thai driver is 27 years old and is at the peak of his F1 career. If he can put a Williams car in the top 10 an incredible 7 times in a 22-race calendar with 4 DNFs. If this is what Albon can do in a Williams, we can only imagine his performances in a competitive car. This is exactly what he’s lacking in his F1 life right now, a car. A car that will help him fulfill his ambition of regular podiums and race wins which he confessed recently.

He confessed, “I feel like I’m very close to my peak. There are always improvements to be done and there are still areas to improve, but generally, with my experience now and where I am, I feel like I am deserving of a car that can score podiums and fight for wins. And that’s just being totally honest with how I see myself.”
