Becoming an F1 driver is one of the toughest things in the world, let alone winning the championship. To think that Lewis Hamilton has 7 of them is insane, to say the least. His move to Mercedes was labeled a huge gamble by many. However, he shut the critics in the most Lewis fashion ever- winning 6 championships with the Silver Arrows.

But how did a boy from Stevenage become F1’s biggest name? Among many other virtues, Mercedes boss Toto Wolff has revealed one thing that sets apart Hamilton from his colleagues.

Mercedes big gun Toto Wolff told Cars and Culture, “The reason he’s a seven-time champion is that he questions himself every day even after the most successful performances. He still finds areas of weaknesses and gaps and that is not only in a racing car, but it’s also outside of the racing car.”

Hamilton is statistically the best-ever driver in F1 with 103 wins to his name in addition to his joint-highest championship. The Briton has also scored the most points and podium finishes in the process as well.

Mercedes and Lewis Hamilton are not just a team, it’s a love story. He further mentioned, “Lewis is part of the team and the team is part of Lewis. [There is] no reason to [for that to] not continue. I think one of his strengths is that he’s always hungry, always eager. He’s a great sportsman, but he’s also someone who is extremely driven and determined.”

The contract can be one of the last extensions of Hamilton’s career, who turns 38 in January. Moreover, he’ll be aiming to making it count and bag the championship to celebrate it.
