One of the hot topics in Formula One is Alex Albon. The Thai driver left Red Bull last season but is rumored to come back to Williams. However, the Grove-based outfit has partnered with Mercedes for engines, which made Team Principal, Christian Horner hope that Toto Wolff doesn’t block his move.

However, the Mercedes boss states he would he never do that to Albon. Wolff further stated that Alex is an exceptional driver, and fully deserves to be back in Formula One.

Wolff would never come in Alex Albon’s way if he returns to F1

There has been some talk that if George Russell departs the team for Mercedes; Albon could replace him at Williams. However, knowing that Red Bull and Mercedes are rivals, Horner thinks Wolff would block the move, as they supply power units to the Grove-based outfit.

But, the Austrian boss sees things in a different way, he has knows the talent that Albon has in F1, and fully deserves an F1 seat. Speaking at the Zandvoort, Wolff had nothing but praise for the Thai driver.

He said, “I would never block someone like Alex Albon, he’s a fantastic guy, personalty is great. I was personally sad to see him going, and If he has a chance driving in a Formula One car. You know I think that is the right thing to do.”

What did Horner say about Wolff possibly blocking Albon?

The Red Bull boss would like to see his driver back in F1, whether it be with the Milton-Keynes-based outfit, or somewhere else on the grid. He further stated that he believes that Albon deserves a second chance, and hopes that Mercedes doesn’t prevent that.

He said, “Yeah we would be supportive of him racing elsewhere. I hope that you know Mercedes don’t prevent that from happening. He deserves that chance, and so we are doing our best to help him, and we’ll see what happens.”
