Mercedes have dominated Formula one since the beginning of the Turbo-Hybrid era in 2014. They have won every single driver’s and constructors’ championship since the 2014 season. And now, Mercedes Team principal Toto Wolff and his wife Susie Wolff have been instrumental in Mercedes’s success in the Formula E championship in 2021.

But the Formula E does not get the same respect as some other series from the F1 paddock. In fact, Red Bull driver Max Verstappen even compared the series to a Super Mario video game.

Toto Wolff “thrilled” about FE title

Mercedes went on to win the Formula E title in 2021 in a dramatic fashion. After Nyck de Vries, who is a Mercedes Academy driver, won the title in the last race for the season in Berlin, Mercedes F1 Team Principal Toto Wolff expressed his delight at the milestone.

“We were, of course, very happy about the title. But Edoardo Mortara not only became vice world champion, Susie’s driver Norman Nato also won the last Berlin race.

“That is to be seen at least as an equal success. To make a private team competitive without a large corporation behind them and to lead them to Grand Prix victories and a runner-up world championship can hardly be valued highly enough.” said Toto.

After winning the title, Mercedes announced it would withdraw from Formula E to focus more on Formula One.
