After wrapping up the 2022 F1 championship with utter dominance, Max Verstappen is on top of the world. The 25-year-old Dutchman with two championships already could be the next to achieve the seven championships mark. However, Michael Schumacher’s brother Ralf feels Verstappen lacks patience and will not match the high standards set by his brother.

Michael Schumacher competed in the premier class till the ripe age of 43 till 2012 before he retired. This incredibly long stint can only be achieved by mental and physical fortitude. Despite Verstappen’s dedication to the sport, he has hinted at retiring after his contract runs out in 2028, by which point he’ll be 31.

As quoted by the UK news outlet Mirror, the Sky Sports Germany journalist revealed why he feels Verstappen will not survive as long as his brother in the sport.

“With Max, however, I ask myself another question: How long does he still want to play in Formula 1? He has already hinted a few times that he does not want to drive for another ten years. I trust him to say at some point: ‘Bye, that’s it. I’ll be gone!’ The constant travel could be a reason. Although we had fewer races in my time, it was too much for me at the end of my career.,” he said.

Ralf Schumacher explains how the life of an F1 driver becomes all about the sport. As discussed earlier, Verstappen has already stated he might retire after his Red Bull contract.

However, the Dutchman is still a racer and if not Formula 1, he would want to try different races.

There are still six years to go until we reach the end of Verstappen’s contract. Beyond that? Verstappen might want to try different things, he admitted in an interview with Nextgen-Auto.

“I might want to do different things. At 31, I don’t know if I will have reached my peak or if the drop in performance will have happened. I want to do other types of racing, racing endurance, for example. Maybe I’ll get tired of traveling all the time,” said Verstappen. (Translated Via Google)
