We believe Drive to survive has offended many, because of what the critics have been appalling recently. The show is being called out for turning F1 into a soap opera tragedy. Who knows if they will even renew the series for another season? Without a doubt, DTS has been an essential factor in catapulting F1’s popularity to where it is today. The sport which primarily catered to European audiences will now see three F1 circuits in just America by the time 2023 arrives.

Netflix’s Drive to Survive in trouble
Drive to Survive’s first edition was released back on March 8, 2019. The series was quick to grasp people’s attention, especially the unfortunate Romain Grosjean crash of 2020 that suddenly put F1 in the spotlight. Remember, a man emerging from the biggest fireball while everyone tries to extinguish the chaos? The video made it to every social media account, as concerned Instagram reels with solemn music couldn’t escape our eyes.

Kudos to Netflix for covering the incident exceptionally well. While every person searched how that Haas broke into two, DTS had done its job. However, the series has taken a tremendous fall in the ratings since then. Unfortunately, season 4 now stands on a sad 17% audience score compared to a once happy 89% at rotten tomatoes.

Drivers and fans criticize the popular F1 show
The reasons for the series doing so badly are obvious. Reigning world champion Max Verstappen has been very vocal in his criticism of the series. Moreover, many hardcore European fans and drivers on the grid have joined him in the party. Several believe that they dramatized the series with Verstappen, even comparing it to the likes of “Keeping Up with the Kardashians.”

Though the series might have catered well to the US audiences, it won’t work this way with the usual fans. As the producers failed to strike a balance, they now suffer from the wrath of bad reviews. Moreover, people who’ve followed the show are also reporting it misrepresents several aspects. The recent criticism involved McLaren drivers Lando Norris–Daniel Ricciardo, where Norris was shown in an unpleasant light.
