After a very long time, Fernando Alonso finally has a car that can challenge for podium finishes if not for the top spot straightaway. After the drubbing in 2022, Mercedes isn’t going any better and Lewis Hamilton is far from amused. What these two situations have done is that they have rekindled a rivalry of the yesteryear that many probably forgot. However, die-hard fans had a stroll down memory lane as the two veterans of the game are embroiled in an engaging battle in Bahrain.

Fans reminded of the epic 2007 season as Fernando Alonso and Lewis Hamilton slug it out
Alonso kept catching Hamilton up until Mercedes called him in for a tire change to avoid an undercut in Lap 31. Later, Fernando went into the pitlane as well for hard tires, coming out behind his former McLaren teammate.
However, it was Lap 37 when Alonso set the fastest lap and made significant ground behind Lewis. At one point he even managed to get ahead of Lewis, but the Briton immediately retook the position in Turn 4. That changed in the next lap when Alonso made a move on Hamilton and made it stick this time around.
